NEWSLETTER 2 septembre 2009 Harold de La Barre de Nanteuil News letter n°9 sept 2nd 2009
Last new letter n°8 Pink 2009 Pink fishery is getting close to the end, with 88,4 millions to date. How far can it still go v.s the predictions of 113 millions?. To date, Prince Willian Sound is 14,6 millions v.s predictions of 38 millions. Kodiak 27,1 millions v.s predictions of 22 millions, and Southeast 33,4 millions v.s predictions of 42.2 millions.
See graphic. Sockeye: Sockeye fishery is over for this season. Even with the incidental catch in august, it will not make a big change. this will be the last graphic posted until the final harvest figures from AFDG. Sales has been pretty good and has kept fresh domestic market active.
See graphic. Chum: Chum is only 14,4 millions of fish so far. Predictions are 18.2 millions. It's the lowest level to date since 2007. Given the slow fishing, extremely limited offers, and very high demand from domestic market and from China, the market might reach very high numbers. No doubt this situation will have some heavy influence over Chinese value added product market.
See graphic. Japan: Chum predictions are 100 000 t, a 15 000 t decrease from last year harvest, and volume to be exported to China is expected to be 20 000 t, v.s 30 000 t last year and far away from the 50/60 000 t a few years ago.
