NEWSLETTER 17 aout 2009 Harold de La Barre de Nanteuil News letter n°7 august 17th 2009
Last new letter n°6 Pink: 2009 pink season looks a bit like the 2006 season, predictions and harvest to date. As a reminder, 2006 was 73 millions caught v.s 108 millions predicted. Market is strong, and Chinese processors are looking for fish as well as canners. Russian fishery has been good, as far as numbers are concerned, but the quality is poor and size of fish is small. Some claims seems beeing reported from chinese buyers.
See graphic. Sockeye: Sockeye fishery is over for this season. Even with the incidental catch in august, it will not make a big change. this will be the last graphic posted until the final harvest figures from AFDG. Sales has been pretty good and has kept fresh domestic market active.
See graphic. Chum: Fishing is not exciting, and demand is very good. Not many offers around, China is Looking for fish. Somes sales reported around 1,40$/lb for Good meat colour, and around 1,00 and 1,05$/lb for pale. Given the actual catch, chances to see a total harvest lower than the predictions are more than possible.
